 Flamboyant and full of energy, this 31 year old lead singer and lyricist just wants everyone to be happy. With a look that wouldn’t be out of place in a US rock band, Derek has been an integral part of Clear Blue Skies since its formation 10 years ago. A prolific writer, Derek takes his inspiration from real life, real people and real situations.

In the current music scene, everything falls into a category. From the style of the music, to the style of the band itself, success means fitting in with a faceless bureaucrat’s definition of popular.

But times, they are a changing. Fans want more. They are finally breaking away from spoon fed music and looking for something to call their own. Leading the way to this musical nirvana is Northumberland based band Clear Blue Skies.

 Proud of the fact that they don’t fall into a category, Derek, Matty, J-P and Eddy are rattling the cages of conformists everywhere. Their eclectic blend of rock, country and grunge combined with mesmerising live performances has won Clear Blue Skies plaudits from both media and public alike.

 Described by the media as ‘raucous’, ‘footstomping’ and ‘FANTASTIC STUFF!’ Clear Blue Skies transports you back to the time when playing your records as loudly as humanly possible whilst bouncing on the bed furiously fingering your air guitar was the epitome of happiness.

Formed 10 years ago, this Northern band have earned their place in the publics’ hearts. Anthemic tunes combined with sumptuous guitar riffs and passionate lyrics have lead to comparisons with the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd and even Dire Straits, but that is only half the story. Their sheer energy and delight with everything they do is infectious.

MATTY PRINGLE:

 Composer and guitarist Matty grew up with the band from the tender age of 18. He has now penned over 150 tracks in collaboration with Derek whilst his finger picking guitar solo’s have become the stuff of legend.

JOHN PAUL (J-P) ALLAN:

 Brother of Derek, this 27 year old drummer formed the original band with his childhood friend Matty. And the rest so they say, is history. J-P’s dynamic talent and sheer joy of playing is infectious, leaving the crowds hammering for more.

EDDY:

The newbie and bassist.  25 year old Eddy joined the band 3 years ago. His toe tapping bass lines and self deprecating sense of humour complete the phenomenon that is:
